After a highly successful few years of delivery quality support to families and their children, we are taking the next step in making our children's ministry as exciting and effective as it can be. So starting in 2009 KidZone will be the hub of all things awesome for our 3 to 12 year olds. The curriculum will be the same, but the approach quite different, some of which is detailed below.

Riverside Christian Families' Sunday school is an amazing place for children to find out more about God in an environment of safety, fun, and innovation that comes with the skill and knowledge of our amazing team, and with the tools that they have to work with. And it's all free! It's our gift to your kids and also to you as you seek to complement what you teach your kids with some extra help & inspiration from this kids program.

We use the Scripture Union 'Light' curriculum which incorporates multimedia, craft, games, teaching, and a whole lot of innovation for four distinct age groups which details for each are listed below:

Bubbles - (ages 3 - grade 1)
Splash - (grade 2 - grade 4)
Extreme - (grade 5 - grade 7)

Our kids join the adults for the first part of our Sunday services at 9.30am, with music, dance, multimedia & a whole lot of fun. The children leave to join their peers in learning more of the story through activity & smaller groups in adjacent rooms to the main meeting area. The children usually leave for their activities by 9.15am and return to parents after the conclusion of the church service. The children will be enjoying games, food, stories, prayer for oneanother, practical challenges for the week, memory verses and prizes. Our children also are encouraged to bring some money to collect towards our Compassion Sponsor child and other worldwide charity initiatives.

All of our Sunday school teachers and helpers are have current 'Blue Cards' for working with children, and are also trained in 'Childsafe' which helps us provide the safest environment that we can for the children in our care. Each teacher has both their Blue Card & Childsafe team card visibly presented to assure you that they are trained to do what they do.

Children aged 5 and under are bubbling with life; everything is new, exciting and just waiting to be discovered. They are in the busiest time of their lives when they will learn more than at any other time and, crucially, when their brains establish learning pathways. They are receptive to God, to hearing him in ways that many of us have lost as we have grown up and to having the sort of faith that Jesus wants us all to have.

Bubbles is a group devoted to the kids 3 years old and up to the end of grade 1. With a strong emphasis on interactive learning with music, dance, craft, games and even occasional drama productions, our kids love being at church and Sunday School. Our team of teachers and parent helpers are amazing volunteers who devote great deals of time in preparation and planning to make Sundays a highlight for the kids.

Parents are required to sign kids into the program and sign them out before the children are allowed to leave the program. Parents are also required to take their child to the toilet and one of our helpers would discreetly inform you in the church service if this was required.

Children aged 5 to 8 love to play together, be creative, use their energy, explore new ideas and enjoy old favorites. They have a great capacity for friendship and empathy for anyone in trouble. They can have a depth of spirituality which can be both matter of fact and breathtaking. Splash! will help you encourage your 5 to 8s in their daily lives with God.

Our Splash kids are aged from grade 2 to grade 4. Children aged 8 to 11 like to have fun! They like to be with their friends and are growing increasingly independent. Most still like the opportunity to play games and to be creative, but they will shy away from anything that feels too babyish. Their capacity to learn is enormous and most can read quite well. Feed their imaginations with Xstream and allow them space to ask the questions about the things that younger children take for granted. Xstream encourages 8 to 11s to live their daily lives for God.

Our Extreme kids are aged from grade 4 to grade 6. With a strong emphasis on interactive learning with music, dance, craft, games and even occasional drama productions & movie making, our kids love being at church and Sunday School. Our team of teachers and helpers are amazing volunteers who devote great deals of time in preparation and planning to make Sundays a highlight for the extreme kids.
