JOIN UP IN MOVEMBER TO SUPPORT BLOKES Hi , It's Dan sending this email because this November I've decided to get hairy and grow a moustache for Movember. I want to be an active participant in the movement that is changing the face of men's health. I'm also committed to tackling men's health issues and being proactive in the fight against prostate cancer... and I want you on my team. My team is called Riverside Christian Church. To join my Movember team go to http://au.movember.com/au/register and follow the steps. Once registered you\'ll be sent all the information you need to get donations and get growing as part of my Movember team. You will need these details to complete your online registration:
Men\'s health is a major issue. Did you know:
The money raised by Movember is used to raise awareness of men\'s health issues and donated to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and beyondblue: the national depression initiative. The PCFA and beyondblue will use the funds to fund research and increase support networks for those men who suffer from prostate cancer and depression. For those that have supported Movember in previous years you can be very proud of the impact it has had and can check out the details at: Cheers, Dan
OR, MAKE A DONATION TODAY During Movember (the month formerly known as November) we are growing a Mo. That's right I'm bringing the Mo back because we're passionate about tackling men's health issues and being proactive in the fight against men's depression and prostate cancer. To donate to our Mo you can either:

THE WALL We are launching a new initiative to get answers to the tough questions. I have just added a new topic on the church’s forum page for discussing the hard questions from the bible. I have started with one, but if you have any pressing questions you have never been able to get your head around – please post them there and I/we can research and discuss to see what we come up with. To date there are a couple of board items and questions including Old testament warfare questions, why people cast lots,... Come make your own thoughts heard, answer some questions, or just post your own. Click on the following link to get straight there: http://riversidechristian.org.au/forums/YaBB.pl?board=the_wall If you are not currently registered on the forum, you will need to sign up to make any contributions. Here's how to sign up: Just go to the top of the page and click on ‘register’ Fill out the form and submit. Check your email for the link to register (depending on the security/sensitivity settings on your email – it may be sent to your junkmail folder) – once you have been registered a password will be sent to you.
Once you sign in – go to the ‘profile’ tab at the top of the page and edit your password etc to personalize your page – then you can make comments, start making discussion and input on the forum.
It would be great to have your input – a forum is one way to improve our communication – and get a larger audience involved in discussions than we could otherwise get.
UPDATE - over $800 was raised! Read more to find out where it is going The money has been delivered and I have been told that 16 families from the Thuringowa State High School community will be benefiting from this amazing generosity. A letter will be going to those families identified by the school and letting them know that part of their outstanding debt has been paid! read below if you are interested in what this was about.......... In Townsville this year we will be doing something very special as a part of the National Day of Thanksgiving celebrations. This year we are joining together as the church across the city to take up money from the churches and put it together to distribute into the schools to help families in need. Essentially the money that will be distributed will go toward debt relief for the most needy families, where essentially any outstanding school debts for school fees, books etc for families in our State School System, can be paid in full. This allows the school to nominate those they know are most desperate for help, and through the school, send letters to these struggling families to let them know that their debts have been paid in full. We are not looking for recognition, this will be anonomous (the schools will know) but we want to bless those who need real help at the moment. If you are able to help, please start considering how much you can contribute toward this initiative, and a special offering will be taken up around the city on Mothers Day, 11th May, for this. Please give generously to Bless those who need help at this time and help the families help the kids. More info on National Day of Thaksgiving can be found at the following website: www.thanksgiving.org.au
Almost $1500 was raised and 5 areas of our local community doorknocked! Thankyou to all who helped in every way including lunch preps, looking after kids, counting, and of course walking and doorknocking. This year we will be making our Sunday service a little different - we will be serving the community by getting involved in the annual doorknock! We will meet as usual at 9.30am, pray together, and set out to serve and collect for the vital work of the Salvos ministry. A children's program will be provided for the younger ones. We will be returning at 11.30am for an early BBQ lunch provided by Riverside Christian Family Church. More info will be available at the Sunday service and updates will be poseted here.
