Primarily we are a church committed to fulfilling our mission in our local community. Our mission to transform our community is done through the strength, wisdom, & Love our God has for us, and it is the Good News of who He is and what He has done and is still doing in our lives that we want to tell others. We do this by serving others, by helping in areas of need, about going beyond what is considered 'normal' and making a positive difference in the lives of people around us. This is true personal transformation - to be attracted by something of value and seek after it to attain it to add value to our life. A relationship with Jesus Christ is attractive & valuable - and we aim to live our lives to the full by living lives devoted to Him.
So we run kids programs to help provide a safe and fun environment for our local kids through our GetaWay4kids group at the Thuringowacity Salvos
. This youth program is for primary school aged children & is activity based, but also we are incorporating practical character building presentations to help kids reach their full potential. Our goal in the short term is to also incorporate a meal and feed the kids as a part of the program. Getaway for Kids runs on the 2nd and 4th Friday nights from 6.30pm – 8pm.
So we serve our schools through the school chaplaincy programs and seek to bless and encourage staff and students during the year with breakfasts, lunchtime programs, prayer groups & other acts of service. We work with the chaplains to target the areas of need and help provide appropriate people who can encourage and mentor students primarily through just hanging out at lunch times, but also being involved in life skill programs and communicating on relationship building, goal setting, self esteem and other topical studies. With the experience of our senior Pastor, Dan Dubbeld, a former chaplain with over 4years experience in the Upper Ross Schools, we aim to serve our community through serving the young people and their families.
We run Alpha programs for the community to understand the fundamentals of the Christian faith and to provide a safe environment to discuss real life and real faith issues.
We will always look for opportunities to nurture great ideas of service to our community through our local church and work together in resourcing, training & nurturing to serve our church and community with strength & enthusiasm!
