At Riverside

You should find a community that is big hearted enough to accept people as they are, is using the thought forms and vocabulary that people use in their daily life, and that understands that people just starting out with Jesus or still seeking him need extra support and information.  You should find a church that can offer you and your family the resources and opportunities you need to grow to maturity in Christ and effective service for him.  There should be a sense of being in the mainstream of the faith and in a safe and ordered community. 

There should be an experience of the power and majesty of the presence of God in the midst of the praises of His people.  You should see us as relevant and approachable, not overbearing, people who show care practically, that we are a people who love one another, you should see that we are wholly God dependant for all that we do.  Our reason for doing what we do should always point to Jesus. 

We want to be seen as a people with hope, joy, enthusiasm, boldness and strength who are actively living out our faith.  We want to be recognizable as a distinct member of the church in this community and in this region.

Our Heart

Essentially we want to Love Jesus Christ and Show Him to others.  This has been our misson statement for the last few years but we have found that it did not reflect the specific heart we had and the mission of our church.  However, it still reflects the heart of what we do, and communicates the most important commandments Jesus Christ gave us, which is to Love God and Love Poeple. 

To achieve our hearts desire, we have a mission to fulfil and it is listed on the left hand side of this page.  Our website should reflect the way we intend to fulfil this in this year and in the years to come.

1.We believe there is only one true God, comprising the Father, the Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.

2. We believe the Bible is the infallible, inspired Word of God and is the authority for belief and life.

3. We believe God the Father is the loving, Holy and just Creator. He, with Jesus, is the sustainer of all that exists. He is all knowing, all-powerful and ever present. He never changes.

4. We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and His deity, humanity, virgin birth, sinless life, death on a cross for the sins of the entire world, His resurrection, ascension and personal return.

5. We believe in the Holy Spirit and His work in the believer through His indwelling and continual filling to convict of sin, lead into truth, produce His fruit, equip and empower with His gifts. We believe that all the gifts of the Holy Spirit are given to believers for the ministry and to edify the Church.

6. We believe in the inherent sinfulness of the human race and our need for salvation through faith in and confession of Jesus’ death on the cross to pay for our sin.

7. We believe that baptism be available for all believers, preferably by immersion, and in communion, which is celebrated regularly in remembrance of Christ’s death.

8. We believe and teach that Christ is the healer of the body, mind, soul and spirit.

9. We believe the Church universal is comprised of all born-again believers of all nations and denominations under the headship of the Lord Jesus Christ.

10. We believe in the resurrection of the body, the judgment of all people and in eternal life for all who have believed in and received Jesus Christ.
